Cubicle Hygiene

Toilet cubicles are found in most public bathrooms across the country. It is important that cubicle cleanliness and hygiene is taken seriously. Although a necessity, many bathroom users have anxiety related to the cleanliness of the facilities when they are out shopping, at a cinema, restaurant or even at work.

Statistics have found that the number of people who stress about the hygiene of washrooms to be as high as 40%. An even higher percentage admit that they do not feel comfortable using public washroom facilities. When people have a bad experience in your washrooms it reflects badly on your image. People will even speak to other people about their negative experience if it was particularly bad! Nobody wants their business image tarnished by this.

Below we explore some of the ways that you should protect yourself when using bathroom cubicles. We then go over your responsibilities when providing washrooms to your customers and staff.

Firstly, many bathroom users attempt to find the cleanest cubicle when they enter. Unfortunatly, many businesses allow their restrooms to get to a level of un-cleanliness in which people can easily see which cubicles to avoid. Other times, it has been found that people use the cubicle that is furthest away from the door. This is due to the assumption that this will be the least used space, however, because most people (consciously or not) do this, it is rarely the case.

You should never put your handbags, shopping bags or other items on the bathroom floor. This is a sure way to spread the bacteria and germs from within the cubicle to other areas of your life such as the car and your house. Always  try to make contact with as little of the washroom as possible.

Now that we have explored what you should do when visiting public washrooms, lets take a look at what you can do to make your cubicles as hygienic as possible.

Firstly, the facilities such as toilet paper must be fully stocked and easy to access. You should never allow your washrooms to run out of toilet paper. This is why we recommend toilet roll dispensers such as the Twin Dispenser so that when one roll is finished, it is replaced for the user with the pull of a lever. This lowers the risk of running out of toilet paper. We can supply you these for free when you receive your paper products from us!

Secondly, going above and beyond their minimum expectations by providing a Toilet Seat Cleaner will be greatly appreciated, lower anxiety about hygiene and improve your image. The toilet bowl must be cleaned regularly and it is advisable to install a WC Sanitiser to help stop build up and reduce blockages. These can also release a pleasant smell. The floors must be moped regularly and kept clear from any waste or rubbish.

You must provide a hygienic way to dispose of sanitary waste. These cotton products should never have to be flushed down the toilet where they can cause blockages and other plumbing disasters. Our Sanitary Units are fully serviced, slimline and easy to operate. We also dispose of the waste in accordance with regulations surrounding bio hazards.

As well as the above, after leaving the cubicle there should be access to the usual Soap Dispensers, Hand Dryers and/or Paper Towel.

Maintaining proper hygiene in washroom cubicles goes a long way to show your customers and staff that your care about them and their safety. It also reduces anxiety that many bathroom users have surrounding public washrooms and can even help your business image.
