Possible locations of a facility that will dispose of nuclear waste in Australia are currently being discussed. This is because there was a renewed debate on a possible future nuclear industry in Australia last week.
The proposed facility will store low and intermediate-level radioactive waste from Lucas Heights and Australian produced waste that has been sent to France, the United States and Britain between 1996 and 2009.
From 28 voluntarily nominated sites around Australia 6 sites have been shortlisted. These sites are Sallys Flat in NSW, Hale in the Northern Territory, Cortlinye, Pinkawillinie and Barndioota in South Australia and Oman Ama in Queensland.
Sanokil understands the importance of disposing of hazardous waste safely and correctly. Waste collected by Sanokil’s hygiene services is disposed of weekly by a waste service management firm, Redlam. Redlam is a wholly Australian owned private company that services both the public and private sector.
